Study of Cattle Field
Oil on linen on panel, 4"x 6"
I went for a walk on the Iron Horse Trail just outside of Ellensburg, carrying my portable painting kit with me. The sun was almost setting, and I did this tiny painting in a few minutes. By the time I finished the white calf, the mother moved away. So I used another cow as a reference to complete the foreground. Then I finished the background. It was one of my quickest paintings.

Barn Swallow
Oil on linen on panel, 6" x 6" SOLD
Quick study of a barn swallow, using only Transparent Oxide Red oil color which I often use for underpainting. This type of painting works better on oil primed linen canvas like this one.
